The paragraph below was written by my partner Jana. A writer, speaker, pro-passion coach, animal whisperer and connection specialist, Jana's first experience with Hervey Bay's Humpback Whales was one never to be forgotten!
A display, both wished and unlikely.
It starts with a tap-dance: fluke meets surface - again and again.
Just as if he would make room and take care of the full attention for a big appearance.
And after feeling prepared, he exhales and inhales at once.
Then he dives down, every part of his body tensed until even the fluke disappears nearly vertical in the water.
He is going deep to attempt, as in shooting up to the surface shall use all his strength.
In awe, fascination and excitement we wait and hope, knowing that what seems to happen here is utterly improbable.
Until this one moment when we indeed see him breaching through the surface, stretching the length of his body towards the sun.
